While New York Rangers<\/a> general manager Chris Drury<\/a> has publicly declared the team will be retooling moving forward, captain J.T. Miller<\/a> is not among the players who could be on the move.<\/p>\n

Drury penned a letter to fans last week, making it clear the team will be sellers at the trade deadline, but stressing the Rangers are not entering a full rebuild.<\/p>\n

Pending unrestricted free agent Artemi Panarin<\/a> leads the list of targets on the Rangers. The veteran winger is now the top remaining player on TSN Trade Bait board after Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> and Rasmus Andersson<\/a> were dealt over the last few days, but Miller appears to be off-limits.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrury met with all the players individually who have no-move clauses,\u201d TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun explained Tuesday on Insider Trading. \u201cAmong those players is Artemi Panarin<\/a>, but J.T. Miller<\/a>, the captain, his name is already out there, and I\u2019m not quite sure why.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I was told today is that Miller has no intention of waiving his no-move clause, and the Rangers have no intention of going to him and asking to waive it. They traded for him last year, they made him captain, and they still believe in the reasons why they made that move. Miller should not be part of whatever exodus of players leaves New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was only a year ago that the Rangers acquired Miller from the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> for a package that included their 2025 first-round pick. The 32-year-old forward has 13 goals and 32 points in 42 games this season after posting 13 goals and 35 points in 32 games upon rejoining the team that drafted him last winter.<\/p>\n

Miller remains signed through the 2029-30 season at a cap hit of $8 million. His contract shifts to include a 15-team no-trade list in 2027-28 for its final three seasons.<\/p>\n

The Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> on Saturday in their first game after Drury released his letter, but have dropped two straight since and remain last in the Eastern Conference, 10 points back of the final wild-card spot.<\/p>\n
