Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has opened up regarding the future of Head Coach Adam Foote as the team continues to struggle this season.<\/p>\n

With just 33 games remaining in the 2025-26 season, the Vancouver Canucks are probably hoping that they could speed things up and flash forward to the NHL Entry Draft in June, where they have a very good chance at selecting first overall.<\/p>\n

“We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we’ve definitely always emphasized on getting younger.” Allvin said.<\/p>\n

“The Canucks are on a ten-game losing streak, tying a franchise record for futility, and coaches who lead their team to long losing streaks like this don’t last long.<\/p>\n

Case in point, the only other time in franchise history that the Canucks lost ten games in a row, head coach Tom Renney was fired as soon as the losing streak ended.” Daniel Wagner of Canucks Army said recently.<\/p>\n

Well, fans got their answer on Monday afternoon as General Manager Patrik Allvin told reporters that he stands behind Adam Foote<\/a> and his coaching staff and isn’t looking to make a change behind the bench anytime soon.”I do trust the coaching staff and Adam Foote,” Allvin said.<\/p>\n

He added, “There are pockets and stretches where we’re playing really well. There was a stretch of seven weeks in late November to early January when our penalty kill was really good, but that was based on you have your goalie and you’re fairly healthy. That being said, I don’t want to use excuses. Our job is to win hockey games and we need to get better, all of us. And I know the coaches are working on the solutions and working with the players to perform better, and we need to.”<\/p>\n

At this time, it probably wouldn’t be ideal to make a coaching change amid their rebuild and their goal to land the first overall pick, but depending on how the rest of the season goes, this could be a topic that’ll need to be reevaluated by Patrik Allvin and his management group in the summer.<\/p>\n
