He is nowhere near where he once was only a couple of seasons ago, but he is starting to look like a very reliable second line centre on a contending team.”-Stinson

Elias Pettersson might have to learn some french.

Elias Edmonson of Habs Fanatics reported on the steep asking price for Pettersson from the Canucks. The Habs need a second line centre to support Nick Suzuki, to really get over the hump, but it will take a lot to acquire it.

“It could therefore cost Kent Hughes, if he wanted to acquire the forward, rookie center Oliver Kapanen, a 2026 first-round pick, and young defenseman David Reinbacher. Trading Kapanen is something to think twice about, especially when you consider the chemistry he currently has with Ivan Demidov.”-Edmonson

That is a lot to give away if you are the Canadiens, but centres are becoming a rare luxury to have in the league, and if the Habs want one, especially a relatively younger one like Pettersson, it’s going to take a lot to get him. It will be up to Kent Hughes to see if it’s worth giving up two young promising players and a draft pick for a inconsistent Pettersson. The Canucks hold all the cards at the moment, they aren’t desperate to trade Pettersson before the deadline, unless it’s a really good deal.

Previously on Vancouver Hockey Daily

POLL

1 HOUR AGO | 37 ANSWERS

Vancouver Canucks notified what they’ll receive from the Montreal Canadiens for Elias Pettersson

Are the Vancouver Canucks asking the Montreal Canadiens too much for Elias Pettersson?

                 …

[5128
894,3566,2318,5,21,4,18514,3613,893,27,5313
post-424974","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-vancouver-canucks","tag-canucks","tag-david-reinbacher","tag-elias-pettersson","tag-hockey","tag-montreal-canadiens","tag-nhl","tag-rumour","tag-trade","tag-vancouver","tag-vancouver-canucks","tag-vancouvercanucks
["GET
