The Habs need a second line centre to support Nick Suzuki, to really get over the hump, but it will take a lot to acquire it.<\/p>\n“It could therefore cost Kent Hughes, if he wanted to acquire the forward, rookie center Oliver Kapanen, a 2026 first-round pick, and young defenseman David Reinbacher. Trading Kapanen is something to think twice about, especially when you consider the chemistry he currently has with Ivan Demidov.”-Edmonson<\/p>\n
That is a lot to give away if you are the Canadiens, but centres are becoming a rare luxury to have in the league, and if the Habs want one, especially a relatively younger one like Pettersson, it’s going to take a lot to get him. It will be up to Kent Hughes to see if it’s worth giving up two young promising players and a draft pick for a inconsistent Pettersson. The Canucks hold all the cards at the moment, they aren’t desperate to trade Pettersson before the deadline, unless it’s a really good deal.<\/p>\n
