Evander Kane’s time with the Vancouver Canucks is coming to an end within days, or weeks. The 34-year-old hard-nosed, gritty forward is a pending unrestricted free agent, and the rebuilding\/retooling Canucks are anxious to get whatever they can for all of their UFAs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kane is in the final season of a four-year contract that pays him $5.125M annually. His recent strong two-way play in the past few games could level up the draft asset the Canucks get back for him, if he can keep it up. He can be a force in the playoffs for interested teams, as he showed during his four-year run with the Edmonton Oilers.<\/p>\n

Insider Kevin Weekes is reporting that Central Division rivals, the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars, are two teams with strong interest in adding Kane.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Avs and Stars, along with the Minnesota Wild, will be battling it out tooth and nail to get out of the best division in hockey (apologies to the Atlantic). But over the next days and weeks, Colorado and Dallas will also be battling it out in the boardroom, trying to land Kane, while at the same time keeping the physical, playoff-hardened forward away from their bitter rivals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The LA Kings are another team that’s been reported to have interest in Kane.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

In\u00a0161 regular-season games through those four seasons with the Oilers, Kane recorded 62 goals and 49 assists\u00a0for 111 points in 161 games while handing out 509 hits and averaging 18 minutes of ice time per night. In the playoffs, he potted 26 goals in 68 games with the Oilers, while dishing out 284 hits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It hasn’t been a great season in his hometown for Kane, as he has just nine goals and 23 points in 49 games with 84 hits.<\/p>\n
