The Avalanche\u2019s homestand came to an end with another bad loss. The latest rumor connects a winger to Colorado. Also, Mitch Marner and the Golden Knights swept their season series against the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s talk about this latest report from Kevin Weekes. Let\u2019s talk about how Weekes has connected the Avs to probably one of the most hated players in this city.<\/p>\n

Kane knocked Nazem Kadri out of the Western Conference Final in 2022 and nearly ended his tenure with the Avs. We all know how it ended with Kadri. The comeback, the game-winning goal, and the Stanley Cup. But we almost didn\u2019t have any of that.<\/p>\n

Anyway, apparently, the Avs are now one of the teams interested in Kane. And I\u2019m not entirely sure why. Put all the historic stuff aside, Kane is making more than $5 million and is having a terrible season in Vancouver. Even with half his salary retained, it still doesn\u2019t feel worth it. I imagine the Avs could do better.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Stars also being interested is fascinating because, well, they offloaded Mason Marchment in the summer. Kane would play that pest role and probably do it well. With Tyler Seguin likely done for the year, Dallas has more salary cap wiggle room to afford a player like this. Colorado has more pressing needs. And that\u2019s with me still believing the Avs are going to acquire a winger for the third line.<\/p>\n

On the ice, the Avalanche erased a two-goal deficit in the second period but had an epic meltdown in the third. They lost 7-3 to the Flyers despite entering the final frame tied 3-3.<\/p>\n
