a solid haul for a club that many, including this guy, expected to start tailing off in the month of December.

Your post-game analysis below:

Power Surge

After coming out of the first period with a 1-1 tie, the Canadiens came out roaring early in the second period to take control of the game.

First, Nick Suzuki jumped on a failed clearing attempt in the Kraken’s zone and attacked the offensive zone before sliding the puck to Cole Caufield for his 15th goal of the year in just 26 games.

The Canadiens’ dynamic duo once again came up clutch for the Canadiens, as Montreal looked to be reeling at the end of the first period.

Caufield’s goal seemed to give the team some much-needed confidence.

https://twitter.com/scottmatla/status/1600340927368683520

It didn’t take long for the Canadiens to take advantage of this momentum shift, as, on the very next shift, they struck again.

Just seven seconds after Caufield gave the Canadiens the 2-1 lead, Josh Anderson doubled the Canadiens lead.

Juraj Slafkovsky extracted the puck along the boards and sent Christian Dvorak into the offensive zone at full speed.

The Canadien’s veteran centre slid the puck over to a streaking Anderson, who wired home his second goal in 24 hours for his 7th of the season.

It’s a new record for the Montreal Canadiens for the two fastest goals scored consecutively while on the road in the franchise’s history.

A Night Of Firsts

It was a night of firsts tonight, as two players scored their first goals in their NHL careers.

First to the party was Johnathan Kovacevic, who fired home a wobbling wrist-shot past Martin Jones to notch his first career goal.

It caught everyone off-guard, but Kovacevic wasn’t going to ask any questions, as he picked up his first marker after 27 games in his young NHL career.

After Kovacevic, it was Shane Wright‘s turn to make some history.

Wright, whom many thought the Montreal Canadiens would select at 1st overall at the 2022 NHL Draft, was motivated to play tonight and didn’t disappoint.

The 18-year-old was robbed a few times by Jake Allen, but was ultimately able to break through and finally get his 1st NHL goal in his eighth game.

The goal came at 15:30 of the first period, off a nice setup by Wright’s teammates, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde.

Marc has been covering the Habs for over a decade.
