The Montreal Canadiens are still very active on the NHL trade market and Pierre-Luc Dubois is very much their target.<\/p>\n

Montreal Canadiens<\/p>\n

Winnipeg Jets centre and Quebec native Pierre-Luc Dubois<\/a> continues to do everything he can to become a Montreal Canadiens player via the NHL trade market.<\/p>\n

As my partner-in-scribe, Marco D\u2019Amico, pointed out, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes killed two birds with one stone in the Jeff Petry<\/a> trade.<\/p>\n

Speaking of that trade, as his former player agent, Kent Hughes knows Mike Matheson<\/a> well and he has no doubts that the West Island native will fit in both on and off the ice.<\/p>\n

National Hockey Now<\/p>\n

BOS: Could contract extension talks between the Boston Bruins and David Pastrnak<\/a> wind up going the way talks went between the Calgary Flames and Johnny Gaudreau? If so, could the Bruins move Pastrnak on the NHL trade market before next July 1?<\/p>\n

NYI: The New York Islanders have been linked to Nazem Kadri<\/a> on the NHL free agent but could they end up facilitating Kadri going back to the Colorado Avalanche on the NHL trade market?<\/p>\n

PGH: The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> were busy on the NHL trade market on Saturday, acquiring Petry from the Canadiens and defenceman Ty Smith from the New Jersey Devils. Now the question is, whom do both rearguards play with?<\/p>\n

PHI: Philadelphia Flyers fans are ticked off their team didn\u2019t make more of an effort to sign Johnny Gaudreau<\/a> but Calgary Flames fans are livid Gaudreau signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets instead of the Flyers.<\/p>\n

WSH: Former Washington Capitals goalie Vitek Vanecek has elected to go to arbitration with the New Jersey Devils<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FLA: After losing forward Claude Giroux to the Ottawa Senators, the Florida Panthers<\/a> keep adding former Senators via NHL free agency.<\/p>\n

DET: Detroit Red Wings<\/a> restricted free agent defenseman Jake Walman has opted for arbitration.<\/p>\n
