The Vancouver Canucks<\/a> are expected release an update on goaltender Thatcher Demko<\/a>\u2019s injury status this week amid speculation about his availability for the rest of the season, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports.<\/p>\n

Demko, 30, sustained a lower-body injury during the Canucks\u2019 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> on Jan. 10 and was pulled after the first period. He allowed three goals on six shots in the opening frame.<\/p>\n

Dreger indicated that the results of Demko\u2019s most recent medical testing could be available to the team on Tuesday, which would give them a clearer picture of his path forward.<\/p>\n

Amid reporting\/speculating on Thatcher Demko\u2019s season in question, results of his recent medical testing could be available today. The @Canucks<\/a> are expected to address his direction this week.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4 netminder has an 8-10-1 record this season with an .897 save percentage and 2.90 goals-against average.<\/p>\n

He previously missed 12 games with a separate injury issue from Nov. 11 to Dec. 11, and has played in just 20 of the team\u2019s 44 games this year. This marks the second consecutive year in which Demko has dealt with recurring injury problems after only appearing 23 games in the 2024-25 campaign.<\/p>\n

In his last fully healthy season in 2023-24, Demko was an All-Star and finished second in Vezina Trophy voting after finishing the year with a .918 save percentage and 2.45 GAA in 51 games.<\/p>\n

He signed a three-year, $25.5 million extension with the Canucks this summer that will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season.<\/p>\n

Demko is among the walking wounded in Vancouver with forwards Marco Rossi<\/a>, and Brock Boeser<\/a>, and defencemen Derek Forbort<\/a>, and Zeev Buium<\/a> joining him on injured reserve.<\/p>\n
