After New Jersey Devils forward Ondrej Palat was held out of the roster on Tuesday evening, it was announced that he would be moving to Metropolitan Division rival the New York Islanders. <\/p>\n

The package heading to the New York Islanders includes Palat, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2027 sixth-round pick in exchange for forward Maxim Tsyplakov<\/a> with zero salary retention.<\/p>\n

In Palat\u2019s most recent game against the Seattle Kraken, he only recorded 9:19 of ice time. Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald was present in Seattle for this game, as well. This season, Palat has recorded just four goals and six assists over 51 games.<\/p>\n

Palat was selected in round seven (208 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played for the Lightning for 10 seasons before signing with the Devils in free agency in 2022. <\/p>\n

Tsyplakov a 27-year-old forward is in his second season in the NHL. He has recorded one goal and one assist over 27 games this season. During the 2024-25 season, Tsyplakov recorded 10 goals and 25 assists across 77 games.<\/p>\n

Tsyplakov was an undrafted free agent who signed a one-year contract with the Islanders on May 17, 2024, before re-signing as a restricted free agent in July of 2025.<\/p>\n

The New Jersey Devils are currently sitting at 20th in the league and sixth in the Metro Division with a 27-23-2 record on the season and a .538 points percentage. The New York Islanders are 13th in the league and third in the Metro Division with a 28-19-6 record and .587 points percentage. <\/p>\n
