The Montreal Canadiens have once again been victims of a phantom penalty, and after Lane Hutson, it’s now Cole Caufield who is being targeted.<\/p>\n

Caufield was assessed a penalty even though he absolutely never touched the Golden Knights forward from Vegas.<\/p>\n

Yes, Caufield was just sent to the box for a completely imaginary infraction. The officials once again stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

On the play, the young sniper is simply trying to lift Mitch Marner’s stick in front of the net.<\/p>\n

He misses his target, his stick cuts through the air, and yet the referee’s arm goes up.<\/p>\n

It’s an incomprehensible decision.<\/p>\n

It’s the second time in a short span that the Canadiens have been served this bitter medicine.<\/p>\n

The incompetence of the officials frustrates the Montreal Canadiens<\/p>\n

Just a few games ago, it was Lane Hutson who was called for a penalty he didn’t commit.<\/p>\n

It’s starting to become seriously embarrassing for the National Hockey League.<\/p>\n

Mitch Marner, the 28-year-old veteran now in Vegas, didn’t need to do much to sell the call.<\/p>\n

This penalty puts unnecessary pressure on Jakub Dobes, who is having a strong game in goal.<\/p>\n

In such a tight matchup against a Western powerhouse, you can’t afford to hand out free power plays.<\/p>\n

Martin St-Louis must have been furious behind the bench. This kind of call breaks the rhythm and can completely change the flow of a game.<\/p>\n

The NHL needs to review its standards, because right now, it’s a total mess.<\/p>\n
