(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kkco11news.com\/2026\/01\/29\/fatal-crash-involving-cdot-plow-kills-driver-van-carrying-hockey-team-i-70\/?utm_source=taboola&amp;utm_medium=organicclicks&amp;tbref=hp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kkco11news.com\/2026\/01\/29\/fatal-crash-involving-cdot-plow-kills-driver-van-carrying-hockey-team-i-70\/?utm_source=taboola&amp;utm_medium=organicclicks&amp;tbref=hp\">KKCO<\/a>\/Gray News) \u2014 One person was killed and several others were hospitalized Thursday after a snowplow truck struck a van carrying a girls\u2019 hockey team, according to police in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">State police said the collision happened near Silverthorne at about 8:50 a.m. when a Colorado Department of Transportation snowplow driver lost control on Interstate 70 and crashed through the median into a Toyota Tacoma. The plow then crashed into the sprinter van carrying the hockey team, knocking it down an embankment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Tacoma also collided with a BMW, crash investigators said. <\/p>\n<p>One person was killed and several were injured, including members of a hockey team, following an accident in Colorado. (KKTV)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Colorado State Patrol said the driver of the sprinter van <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClearCreekSO\/posts\/pfbid02MMBDDscA2DKw7LArahR9fHCizoXfkafgLY3ZD7cJd1rDxjABXzrV22eMkpcaz6nfl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClearCreekSO\/posts\/pfbid02MMBDDscA2DKw7LArahR9fHCizoXfkafgLY3ZD7cJd1rDxjABXzrV22eMkpcaz6nfl\">died at the scene<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Clear Creek County coroner will publicly identify the driver once notifications are made.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">At least seven passengers from the sprinter van, including five who are under 18, were taken to a local hospital, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClearCreekSO\/posts\/pfbid02MMBDDscA2DKw7LArahR9fHCizoXfkafgLY3ZD7cJd1rDxjABXzrV22eMkpcaz6nfl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClearCreekSO\/posts\/pfbid02MMBDDscA2DKw7LArahR9fHCizoXfkafgLY3ZD7cJd1rDxjABXzrV22eMkpcaz6nfl\">state police<\/a>. One of the young passengers was transported by helicopter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The youth hockey group was identified as the SC Flyers, a girls\u2019 team from Santa Clarita, California. <\/p>\n<p>One person was killed and several were injured, including members of a hockey team, following an accident in Colorado.
