The Calgary Flames<\/a> entered the 2025\u201326 season with playoff aspirations, but the past several weeks have sent the team plummeting down the standings.<\/p>\n

After narrowly<\/a> missing the postseason last year, Calgary (21-25-6) has lost four straight and is tied for the third-fewest wins in the NHL<\/a>, earning just 48 points through 52 games.<\/p>\n

As the March 6 trade deadline nears, the franchise has begun shifting focus toward the future, and Calgary has already signaled where the organization is headed with an impactful move of late.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 18, the Flames dealt<\/a> defensive cornerstone Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a>, and interest in other veterans across the roster has picked up significantly with Calgary open for business.<\/p>\n

One of the veterans often discussed is Nazem Kadri, whose name has been tied to trade rumors for months.<\/p>\n

Although there hasn’t been much momentum for a Kadri trade, according to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta<\/a>, Kadri’s stance on a possible trade away from Calgary has changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the case of Kadri, multiple sources have confirmed that while he has not formally requested a trade, he and his camp have informed the Flames he is open to being moved,\u201d Pagnotta wrote. \u201cSome teams have asked the Flames if they have an appetite to eat some of his AAV, something I believe Calgary will consider depending on the offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kadri, 35, is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $49 million contract<\/a>. He has three years remaining on the deal and holds a modified no-trade clause. So far this season, he has recorded nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 52 games.<\/p>\n

Pagnotta also named some teams possibly interested in landing Kadri, including the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild. All of them have previously expressed interest in Kadri and could re-enter discussions.<\/p>\n

The shift in Kadri\u2019s stance appears to be tied to Calgary\u2019s direction, as the Flames are nowhere near contention while Kadri is entering the latter portion of his career.<\/p>\n

The Flames will look to snap their losing streak on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild<\/a>, with puck drop set for 8 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n
