A former National Hockey League defenseman believes that the Vancouver Canucks need to at least take a look at adding a former fifth overall pick before the deadline.<\/p>\n

“We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we’ve definitely always emphasized on getting younger.” GM Patrik Allvin said.<\/p>\n

While landing prospects for the future is great, the Vancouver Canucks also need players that can help them right away too and were able to land a few pieces like that in the Quinn Hughes trade with the Minnesota Wild, but Patrik Allvin won’t be stopping there.<\/p>\n

“Another tidbit from today’s show: Sources have told me the Seattle Kraken are open to moving Shane Wright. They’ve been searching for a top-six forward and packaging Wright might get them that.” Pagnotta said.<\/p>\n

While making an appearance on Sekeres and Price this week, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado said that he believes the team should at least inquire to see what it’ll actually cost them to bring in Shane Wright.<\/p>\n

“It would be worth taking, I don’t want to call it a flier because the guy was a really high pick, but it would be worth at least seeing what it’s going to cost to acquire a player like Shane Wright. For me, Shane Wright has always been, it’s never been about foot speed, it’s never been about super elite playmaking ability or even a lethal shot, it’s always been about like right up here, like how smart are you and how do you think your way around the game?” Corrado said.<\/p>\n

If Seattle is truly wanting a top-six forward in exchange for Shane Wright, the Vancouver Canucks have a couple of options that could be intriguing to Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill – Elias Pettersson and Jake DeBrusk, but for the former, it would probably cost a lot more than just the 22-year-old centerman.<\/p>\n
