We\u2019ve got movement in goal within the Montreal Canadiens organization.<\/p>\n

The Laval Rocket made an unexpected personnel change, forcing an immediate reassessment of the organization\u2019s goaltending hierarchy.<\/p>\n

The official announcement came earlier today via the Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Lions\u2019 account.<\/p>\n

The Rocket recalled goaltender Hunter Jones from the ECHL.<\/p>\n

This move stems directly from the announcement involving Ben Gaudreau, and to fill those absences, the Lions had to sign emergency goalie Chris Pascal.<\/p>\n

That said, the real question observers are asking is about the impact on Laval\u2019s main tandem.<\/p>\n

If Jacob Fowler and Kaapo K\u00e4hk\u00f6nen are both healthy, this recall seems unnecessary.<\/p>\n

Jacob Fowler is enjoying an excellent first professional season, with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 19 games.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to wonder whether this move is hiding another transaction or a promotion.<\/p>\n

Is the Canadiens organization preparing a Fowler recall to the NHL?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a tempting theory, but it\u2019s worth remembering that Jakub Dobes and Samuel Montembeault already occupy the crease in Montreal.<\/p>\n

Hunter Jones, a former second-round pick of the Wild (2019), has played just two games with the Rocket this season.<\/p>\n

His presence suggests the organization needs immediate insurance in Laval.<\/p>\n
