Washington Capitals<\/a> goaltender Logan Thompson<\/a> is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, head coach Spencer Carbery announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

The update provides some concern for Team Canada, with Thompson set to compete for starts with Jordan Binnington<\/a> and Darcy Kuemper<\/a> at the Winter Olympics. The Olympic tournament is set to begin on Feb. 11, with Canada taking on Czechia in their first game one day later.<\/p>\n

Thompson is enjoying another strong season with the Capitals, owning an 18-16-4 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.46 goals-against average.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old allowed five goals on 32 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken<\/a> on Tuesday, playing all 60 minutes. <\/p>\n

Thompson, who was not named to Canada\u2019s 4 Nations Face-Off roster last winter, ranks ahead of both Binnington and Kuemper statically this season. Binnington has struggled to an 8-15-6record\u00a0with a .867 save percentage and a 3.59 GAA in 30 games with the St. Louis Blues<\/a>. Kuemper, who was also not part of the 4 Nations team, has a 13-9-9 record with a .902 save percentage and a 2.56 GAA in 33 games with the Los Angeles Kings<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Canada has yet to make an injury replacement for the tournament. Bo Horvat<\/a>, Tom Wilson<\/a> and Brad Marchand<\/a> have all returned to play after injury scares earlier this month, while TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> centre Brayden Point<\/a> remains on track to play at the tournament despite the fact he currently remains sidelined with a knee injury. <\/p>\n
