{"id":439957,"date":"2026-02-01T14:51:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T14:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/439957\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T14:51:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T14:51:19","slug":"frost-shines-as-flames-reel-in-sharks-for-3-2-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/439957\/","title":{"rendered":"Frost shines as Flames reel in Sharks for 3-2 win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CALGARY \u2013 In his finest game in a Calgary Flames uniform, Morgan Frost had an impact all over the ice on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Frost had a goal, an assist, five shots, drew two penalties, and went 14-4 in the faceoff circle in leading Calgary to a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the best I\u2019ve seen him play since he\u2019s been with us,\u201d said Flames\u2019 coach Ryan Huska. \u201cThe faceoff circle, he had pace to his game, he was setting people up, he\u2019s scoring goals. If you get that version of Morgan Frost every day, I think you\u2019re pretty happy. He was excellent tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frost\u2019s big game comes one day after the one-year anniversary of the trade in which Calgary acquired Frost and Joel Farabee, who scored the game-winner, in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a better season for the 26-year-old centre, who struggled to produce after the trade last season, but Saturday showed the impact he can have when he\u2019s skating.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was moving my feet. It\u2019s something that gets talked to me about every day, pretty much,\u201d said Frost with a wry smile. \u201cI think I did a good job tonight. If we don\u2019t get that draw, pretty good chance we\u2019re staying in our zone and they\u2019re starting their power play there,\u201d said Huska.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Sports<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you get centremen that are that way, they earn more ice time. They\u2019re going to be out for a lot more key situations, which they all want. It\u2019s a one-time shot. There\u2019s no handling it. It\u2019s on and off the stick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Huska also singled out the hockey sense on that play from Gridin, the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, whose second career NHL goal comes in his 11th game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCertain guys have that instinct, so they know where to go,\u201d said Huska. \u201cIn that situation, Matvei could have went right to the net, but he rolled out to put himself in that shooting position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Combine Gridin\u2019s terrific shot and Frost\u2019s playmaking ability and the club could have some offensive chemistry they desperately need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMorgan likes to distribute. I think that\u2019s probably the number 1 thing. And I think what Matvei has done is helped with the speed of that line,\u201d said the Flames bench boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve gotten better every game they played together.
