The most likely outcome for the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> is a mid-round pick, with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reporting that they’re seeking a third rounder, while David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period shared that he believes Patrik Allvin is willing to eat upwards of 50 percent of Kane’s remaining salary just to get a deal done.<\/p>\n“They want something back for Evander Kane, they will retain, and I get the sense they’re willing to go to 50% of that deal; but they want a draft pick or a prospect back.” Pagnotta said on Wednesday’s edition of DFO Rundown.<\/p>\n
The good news for the Vancouver Canucks is that – a) they have two retention spots left and b) Evander Kane’s cap hit after a 50 percent retention would only be $2.5625 million, which is very manageable for the club.<\/p>\n
While the Canucks would like to get a trade done sooner rather than later, preferably before the National Hockey League’s Olympic roster freeze on Wednesday, it’s unclear if that will be achievable, but there are a number of teams in the mix including the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Los Angeles Kings, the latter of whom have reportedly held discussions about a potential deal.<\/p>\n
There’s a chance that tonight’s game could be Evander Kane’s last at Rogers Arena as a member of the Vancouver Canucks and with the amount of scouts expected in attendance, the hope is that he can put on a good show and impress them ahead of an eventual move.<\/p>\n
