TSN.ca keeps you up to date with all the latest news and rumours ahead of the freeze and will return after for the final Countdown to TradeCentre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Follow all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/tradecentre\/trade-tracker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/tradecentre\/trade-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\">the latest trades here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/free-agency\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/free-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\">the most up to date signings here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Maple Leafs caught in no man\u2019s land?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/toronto-maple-leafs\/10\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/toronto-maple-leafs\/10\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> have won two straight games after finally snapping a six-game winless skid, but it appears their course has been set for the trade deadline. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston told First Up on TSN Radio 1050 Tuesday that \u201cmore than likely we\u2019re talking about this team selling\u201d with Toronto sitting seven points back of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/boston-bruins\/6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/boston-bruins\/6\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Bruins<\/a> for the final wild-card spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Johnston noted that the Maple Leafs are caught in a sort of \u201cno man\u2019s land\u201d with reaching the playoffs becoming increasingly unlikely and the team too high up the standings to fall into a top-five draft slot in order to keep their 2026 first-round pick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/boston-bruins\/6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/boston-bruins\/6\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Bruins<\/a> own the Maple Leafs\u2019 first-round pick this year, having acquired it and forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/fraser-minten\/8483489\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/fraser-minten\/8483489\" target=\"_blank\">Fraser Minten<\/a> for defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/brandon-carlo\/8478443\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/brandon-carlo\/8478443\" target=\"_blank\">Brandon Carlo<\/a>. The pick is top-five protected and should the Maple Leafs wind up keeping it, the Bruins and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> would own Toronto\u2019s first-rounders in 2027 and 2028, regardless of position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Maple Leafs are currently nine points ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" target=\"_blank\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a>, who are fifth-last in the league, with 26 games remaining in their season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/bobby-mcmann\/8482259\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/bobby-mcmann\/8482259\" target=\"_blank\">Bobby McMann<\/a> is becoming a hot name ahead of the deadline with 18 goals and 31 points in 55 games this season while carrying an expiring cap hit of just $1.35 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Johnston said Tuesday there may not be another player available at the deadline with as strong ofa production-to-cap hitratio as McMann, which could create a seller\u2019s market for the Leafs. He added, however, that with so many 2026 first-round picks having been already moved in previous trades, the return the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> received for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kiefer-sherwood\/8480748\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kiefer-sherwood\/8480748\" target=\"_blank\">Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> could represent an expected package back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Vancouver traded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" target=\"_blank\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> last month, receiving two second-round picks and defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/cole-clayton\/8482839\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/cole-clayton\/8482839\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Clayton<\/a> back for the pending unrestricted free agent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Maple Leafs will play their final game ahead of the Olympic break on Tuesday against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" target=\"_blank\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trotz in charge of Predators deadline<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Barry Trotz announced Monday he will be stepping down as general manager of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/nashville-predators\/18\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/nashville-predators\/18\" target=\"_blank\">Nashville Predators<\/a>, but he will remain in his role until a successor is found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">With the club putting a target on finding his replacement ahead of June\u2019s draft, Trotz will guide the Predators through the trade deadline this season and suggested again Monday he is leaning towards being a seller.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve got to listen to everything,\u201d Trotz said at a press conference announcing the news. \u201cWe\u2019re not in the playoffs right now, so I\u2019ve got to listen to everything. I owe that to both the gentleman next to me (chairman Bill Haslam) and our fan base, and anybody who is a fan of the Predators, I have to look at everything. And I\u2019m going to look at it from now, and I\u2019m going to look at it from the future. So, everything\u2019s on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Predators sit three points back of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" target=\"_blank\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> for the wild-card spot in the Western Conference after putting together an improbable comeback from 5-1 down Monday night to beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" target=\"_blank\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> 6-5 to pick up two crucial points. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI was feeling sick on the bench (for Trotz),\u201d Predators head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/andrew-brunette\/8459596\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/andrew-brunette\/8459596\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Brunette<\/a> said post-game. \u201cIt could have been 7-1 there, but I was just feeling really sick about that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;We dug in and found a way to make Papa Barry proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Monday marked a second straight win for the Predators, who continue to hold hope of getting back into the playoffs after missing out last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Now owning a record of 26-23-6, the Predators have been digging out from an 8-13-4 record in the first two months of the season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Trotz said last week he could not rule out trading forward Ryan O\u2019Reilly, who is trending towards a career-best season with 20 goals and 53 points through 55 games. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cKind of unexpected, but since I\u2019ve been playing for him, he\u2019s been an awesome person,\u201d O\u2019Reilly said of Trotz after Monday\u2019s win. \u201cAs a group, it was something that gave us all a shock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fleury Watch Continues<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/marc-andre-fleury\/8470594\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/marc-andre-fleury\/8470594\" target=\"_blank\">Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a> was on the ice with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> on Monday and his agent Allan Walsh seemed to only fuel speculation around an NHL return.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFlower training! #Buzzzz,\u201d Walsh wrote on X in response to Fleury on the ice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6997270\/2026\/01\/26\/wild-fleury-unretire-goalie-fanduel-foligno\/?source=emp_shared_article\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6997270\/2026\/01\/26\/wild-fleury-unretire-goalie-fanduel-foligno\/?source=emp_shared_article\">Michael Russo of The Athletic<\/a> had previously reported Fleury would work with the Wild for skates when goaltenders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/filip-gustavsson\/8479406\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/filip-gustavsson\/8479406\" target=\"_blank\">Filip Gustavsson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jesper-wallstedt\/8482661\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jesper-wallstedt\/8482661\" target=\"_blank\">Jesper Wallstedt<\/a> were at the Olympics and filled in Monday with Wallstedt ill. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Fleury retired after last season, posting a 14-9-1 record with an .899 save percentage and 2.93 goals-against average in 26 games with the Wild. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 41-year-old netminder has been contacted by various NHL teams about a comeback, but told Russo that month a return remains unlikely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cProbably not,\u201d Fleury said. \u201cA couple teams asked.
