A National Hockey League insider has linked Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers to an Eastern Conference team ahead of the trade deadline in early March.<\/p>\n

“We may end up saying no to offers, certainly, but we’re not going to say no to having conversations about any player. This is about improving this team without taking shortcuts.” Jim Rutherford said last month.<\/p>\n

There are a number of players on Vancouver’s roster that will draw interest from playoff contenders over the next 30 days and for veteran defenseman Tyler Myers, it looks like an Eastern Conference team could be a potential fit.<\/p>\n

NHL insider links Vancouver Canucks’ Tyler Myers to Eastern Conference team<\/p>\n

In a perfect world, Tyler Myers would not only see out his contract as a Vancouver Canuck, he would like to remain with the organization for the remainder of his career.<\/p>\n

“It’s a pretty similar situation. If the team’s going to come to you and say, ‘Look, we have something, and we want to discuss it,’ we have to discuss it. But he has a no-move [clause]. He secured it for the kind of deal, and the intention was to play in Vancouver. He’s a veteran guy who wanted to finish his career in Vancouver. So that’s even a more delicate discussion. Like I said, it’s all hypothetical, and I have a hard time dancing around all these hypotheticals that, until we have the actual team and the GM of Vancouver wanting to discuss it, it’s just hypothetical.” Myers’ agent JP Barry said.<\/p>\n

During last Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff Live, NHL insider Jeff Marek believes that Tyler Myers would be a good fit for a team like the New York Islanders, who are looking to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing out last year and ending up with the first overall pick.<\/p>\n

“This is a team that needs a right-shot defenseman. Those two are left shot defensemen. The emergence of Matthew Schaefer has changed a lot of things on that back end. Could the New York Islanders? They’ve done business with this team before? Could this be a final landing spot here? If he agrees, the wave is no trade for Tyler Myers.” Marek said.<\/p>\n

The cost to acquire Tyler Myers wouldn’t be very high and Patrik Allvin would likely be looking at a return of a mid-round pick, perhaps a fourth rounder, which isn’t necessarily bad, especially since it’ll open up a spot on the blue line for someone younger to get consistent minutes.<\/p>\n
