Is MIGHTY DUCKS 4 actually happening?<\/p>\n

While at an Anaheim Ducks hockey game, MIGHTY DUCKS star Kenan Thompson flashed<\/a> a MIGHTY DUCKS 4 script at the camera. Later that night, he led the stadium in a quack chant.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to be home. \ud83c\udfd2\ud83e\udd45 That game sure was MIGHTY!!!! GO DUCKS!!!!\ud83d\udc4f\ud83c\udffe\ud83d\ude4c\ud83c\udffe\u201d Thompson shared<\/a> in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n

The last MIGHTY DUCKS movie, D3: THE MIGHTY DUCKS, came out<\/a> in 1996 and followed \u201cThe unruly team of hockey misfits\u201d after they grew \u201cup a bit\u201d and received \u201cscholarships to a prestigious prep school, where they take on the snotty varsity team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Star Emilio Estevez, who played Gordon Bombay, penned a script for the fourth installment, but Disney didn\u2019t end up wanting it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also wrote MIGHTY DUCKS 4. I wanted to make up for all of the disasters that happened on the\u00a0GAME CHANGERS series,\u201d Estevez said<\/a> on the \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast last year.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It\u2019s] a feature script that had Coach Bombay coming back, being pulled back in by Joshua Jackson\u2019s character and Kenan Thompson\u2019s character and to coach a new team, an expansion team, for the professional women\u2019s hockey league,\u201d the actor explained further.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it would be an all-girl team. Now, when we discover Bombay, he\u2019s coaching roller derby, and so he says, \u2018My girls are going with me. They have to have a shot,’\u201d he added. \u201cIt was charming and contemporary and cool and organically of the moment. It\u2019s where we\u2019re at\u2026Disney was like, \u2018We don\u2019t want to pursue that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson credits his time filming the MIGHTY DUCKS movies for his love for hockey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a big fan of the NHL, man. I\u2019ve been ever since my MIGHTY DUCKS days, basically. To have a relationship where I can actually contribute to the league is a beautiful thing,\u201d Thompson told<\/a> ESPN in 2022 at the Stanley Cup. \u201cI want to give back in more ways than just waving on the JumboTron. It\u2019s nice to have an active participation in the community because it\u2019s such a beautiful community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always been super-duper love. Hockey fans can get a little rowdy after the game and stuff, but they just want to shout out THE MIGHTY DUCKS and tell me how much they meant to them, how it kept them motivated on their hockey paths,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s always been a lot of love.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Disney passed on Estevez\u2019s MIGHTY DUCKS 4 script, it looks like something might actually be in the works! Fans will have to wait to see.<\/p>\n
