Liljegren is in the final season of his current contract, and carries a $3M AAV for 2025-26.

Despite being part of the Sharks current top-four, and playing on a right side lacking in options, it would appear that the Sharks are aiming for an upgrade defensively, and Liljegren could be swapped out to do so.

Not expected to be in their long-term future, Liljegren would still extract value as a young RHD who can contribute at both ends of the ice.

With the Sharks a forward-heavy team, it could be possible they use some of their current assets up front to foster a move to add on defense, San Jose also having still more youth available in their prospect pool.

Previously on Hockey Patrol

POLL

7 HOURS AGO|188 ANSWERS

A former Leafs defenceman is being shopped again, and this time the reason is clearer

Should the Leafs look at re-acquiring Timothy Liljegren?

Photo credit: James Guillory-Imagn Images A former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman has found his way…

[5106
5,51114,20,5172,4,14978,168,54353,5897,66,31,5171
0":"post-448074","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-toronto-maple-leafs","8":"tag-hockey","9":"tag-leafs-trade-rumours","10":"tag-maple-leafs","11":"tag-mapleleafs","12":"tag-nhl","13":"tag-nhl-trade-rumours","14":"tag-san-jose-sharks","15":"tag-sharks-trade-rumours","16":"tag-timothy-liljegren","17":"tag-toronto","18":"tag-toronto-maple-leafs","19":"tag-torontomapleleafs
["GET
