An NHL insider has revealed where things stand for the Vancouver Canucks & their odds to land the first overall pick as we head into the league’s 2026 Olympic break.<\/p>\n

The 2025-26 season hasn’t gone as the Vancouver Canucks had planned and instead of being in the playoff picture, the club finds themselves at the bottom of the National Hockey League’s overall standings with 18 wins in 57 games and are in the mix for the first overall pick at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n

“We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we’ve definitely always emphasized on getting younger.” General Manager Patrik Allvin said.<\/p>\n

Insider reveals Vancouver Canucks’ odds to land the first overall pick at 2026 NHL Entry Draft<\/p>\n

Regular season play is now on pause around the National Hockey League due to the Winter Olympics and it’s the perfect time to gauge where every team is at before the stretch run begins on Wednesday, February 25th.<\/p>\n

For the Vancouver Canucks, they head into the league’s Olympic break with the highest odds to land the first overall pick at 25.1 percent, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.<\/p>\n

The next closest team to the Canucks in the race for the first overall pick is the St. Louis Blues at 13.6 percent, followed by J.T. Miller & the New York Rangers at 11.6 percent, while the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets round out the top-five at 9.5 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n

Barring any massive winning streak post-Olympic break, the Vancouver Canucks are all but guaranteed to land a high draft pick in June and if it happens to be first overall, the club will have a big decision to make – Gavin McKenna or Ivar Stenberg, both of whom are incredibly talented players and could turn this franchise around in no time.<\/p>\n
