The Nashville Predators continue to be one of the more interesting teams to follow this season, as there’s been plenty going on, on and off the ice. From early season struggles and GM Barry Trotz calling out his team, to eventually seeing Trotz step down, one thing that’s been constant this season in Nashville are the trade rumors.<\/p>\n

While the most interest lies in Ryan O’Reilly, who has the word of the organization that they won’t surprise him with a trade, the one trade candidate that appears to be most likely to be moved is Jonathan Marchessault.<\/p>\n

The pesky forward is signed through the 2029 season at $5.5 million AAV, and owns a full no-movement clause. While the Predators are battling for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, don’t be surprised to see them re-tool on the fly and listen on most of their expensive veterans.<\/p>\n

Another player to add to your trade boards: Jonathan Marchessault. Nashville has the big names and strong complementary players (Michael McCarron and Nick Perbix would be two), but I sometimes forget Marchessault, and now have been reminded a couple of times. He has control, but there\u2019s a willingness between team and player for something to happen. Unique in his case: his preference is somewhere with good minor hockey infrastructure for his children – Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, 32 Thoughts<\/a><\/p>\n

Marchessault, 35, has appeared in 38 games, scoring 10 goals and adding seven assists. He’s averaged 16:29 of ice-time per game, including getting power-play time, but Marchessault hasn’t killed penalties at all throughout his NHL career.<\/p>\n

As far as trade destinations go, don’t be surprised to see the Montreal Canadiens interested, and offering pending free-agent forward Patrik Laine in return.<\/p>\n
