Team Canada announced its captains on Sunday, and Cale Makar is one of them.<\/p>\n

Canada announced that Sidney Crosby will captain the team at the Winter Olympics, with Connor McDavid and Makar as the alternate captains. This is the same leadership group that led Canada to a 4 Nations Face-Off championship last February.<\/p>\n

Makar was the time-on-ice leader at 4 Nations, playing mostly on the top pair with fellow Avalanche teammate Devon Toews. He\u2019ll likely assume the same role in Italy.<\/p>\n

Crosby\u2019s captaincy is no surprise. The 38-year-old, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time Stanley Cup champion, was also Canada\u2019s captain in 2014.<\/p>\n

Like Makar, this will be Connor McDavid\u2019s Olympic debut.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, team Sweden also confirmed Gabe Landeskog\u2019s captaincy. He will lead the Swedes, with Erik Karlsson and Victor Hedman as his altnerate captains. Landeskog was an alternate captain at the age of 21 for Sweden in a silver medal finish in 2014.<\/p>\n
