Let\u2019s tell it like it is: the name Jordan Kyrou has been making a lot of fans salivate for quite some time now.<\/p>\n

With 32 points in 47 games this season in St. Louis, we\u2019re talking about a player who brings real offensive punch.<\/p>\n

On paper, there\u2019s no question he would be a major asset to solidify a top-six. At 27 years old, the right winger is in the third year of his contract, which carries an $8.125M cap hit per season.<\/p>\n

Grant McCagg poured cold water on the rumors last night. According to him, Kyrou would be a very poor fit for the chemistry in Montreal\u2019s locker room.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no way around it: the Canadiens are currently second in the Atlantic Division with 72 points. The lineup has finally found a balance that works.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be honest, Kirby Dach and Oliver Kapanen are doing solid work down the middle. Kapanen has surprised everyone with 31 points in 57 games so far.<\/p>\n

“There is a candidate in St. Louis, where they\u2019re open to blowing up the core. The Canadiens chased him a bit last summer. He spent time with Suzuki in the London area. Suzuki and he share the same agent.<\/p>\n

What the Canadiens need to get past the first round of the playoffs is no longer a second-line center. It\u2019s Jordan Kyrou, Nick Suzuki\u2019s close buddy.<\/p>\n

After all, Kent Hughes already made a move this summer by acquiring Zachary Bolduc in exchange for Logan Mailloux. Bolduc has totaled 23 points in 57 NHL games this season.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it, the offense is producing with Nick Suzuki\u2019s 65 points and Cole Caufield\u2019s 32 goals. The urgency to acquire a player like Kyrou is far less obvious.<\/p>\n

Now it remains to be seen whether Kent Hughes will choose stability or attempt a major shake-up before the trade deadline. We\u2019re keeping a close eye on this morning.<\/p>\n
