Defenseman Moritz Seider<\/a> donned an alternate captain\u2019s A for the Detroit<\/a> Red Wings this season, officially becoming part of the club\u2019s leadership group.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll be doing the same for Germany at the Winter Olympic Games in Italy.<\/p>\n

Team Germany has named Leon Draisaitl as captain with Tim Stutzle and Moritz Seider serving as alternate captains. Team Slovakia has also named their captain as Tomas Tatar with Erik Cernak and Martin Fehervary serving as alternates.#MilanoCortina2026<\/a><\/p>\n

The Germans announced their leadership group on Monday. Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl is the captain of the team. Seider and Tim Stutzle of the Ottawa Senators are serving as alternate captains.<\/p>\n

For Seider, his first chance to perform on the world stage at an Olympiad is something he\u2019s envisioned for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it\u2019s great, honestly,\u201d Seider<\/a> said. \u201cThat\u2019s what everyone hopes for. Everyone dreams about being there, representing their country, and playing in the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially for me, I think it\u2019s very much a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seider\u2019s Olympic Memories Are Warm Ones<\/p>\n

Everyone watches the Olympics as a kid, and Seider<\/a> was no exception. If you\u2019re wondering about his seminal Olympic moments, you might be thinking it was Germany\u2019s silver medal in hockey in 2018.<\/p>\n

However, to really delve into his Olympic favorites, you\u2019ll need to get a little warmer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like growing up, you kind of had to be involved in the Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps stories,\u201d Seider<\/a> said. \u201cI know that\u2019s the Summer Olympics. But I mean, I think they kind of show what it means to be an Olympic athlete.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd obviously, if you ever have a chance of being there, I think it will be pretty, pretty cool. So those are probably the type of guys that come to my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s looking forward to fashioning his own unique memories as he participates in his first Olympiad.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving the opportunity to actually go and participate, representing your country, making great memories in the (Athletes\u2019 Village), and everything, the excitement is very big,\u201d Seider said.<\/p>\n
