{"id":453949,"date":"2026-02-11T02:11:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T02:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/453949\/"},"modified":"2026-02-11T02:11:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T02:11:11","slug":"legendary-canucks-broadcaster-jim-robson-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/453949\/","title":{"rendered":"Legendary Canucks broadcaster Jim Robson passes away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Jim Robson, the legendary voice of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> for more than three decades, has passed away at the age of 91.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Robson was the Canucks\u2019 first play-by-play announcer when the franchise entered the National Hockey League in 1970.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Robson also called games for CBC\u2019s Hockey Night in Canada, including Bob Nystrom\u2019s Stanley Cup-winning overtime goal for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-islanders\/2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-islanders\/2\" target=\"_blank\">New York Islanders<\/a> in 1980 &#8211; the first of the team\u2019s four straight championships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">But Robson made his biggest mark in Vancouver, calling some of the franchise\u2019s most memorable moments including the team\u2019s run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1982 and in 1994.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Robson was named recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award and was honoured by the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992, was inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998 and went into the B.C.
