The Toronto Maple Leafs have appeared to lose the opportunity to snatch three potential trade deadline targets.<\/p>\n

A new report reveals that three potential targets for the Toronto Maple Leafs have appeared to be ruled out as they’ve been reportedly pulled from trade talks.<\/p>\n

A report from RG Media’s Jimmy Murphy claims that three members of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Charlie Coyle, Mason Marchment, and Boone Jenner, are now all expected to remain in Columbus.<\/p>\n

According to Murphy, the Blue Jackets are now looking at extensions for the three forwards, with Murphy’s report stating that talks will begin next week.<\/p>\n

Columbus, who were expected to sell, have steered course after ending the end of pre-Olympic play with a seven game winning streak, winning nine of their last 10.<\/p>\n

Toronto Maple Leafs taken out of contention for three potential trade options <\/p>\n

Three potential fits for the Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly moved on out of the trade board that would have made sense for Toronto.<\/p>\n

Boone Jenner, the Columbus captain, hasn’t been a top contributor offensively for the Blue Jackets this season with just 27 points in 42 games, but is a versatile bottom-six forward.<\/p>\n

Able to play as a third line forward at both center and on th wing, Jenner’s $3.75M contract was a value contract for Toronto, one that could be worth it with retention.<\/p>\n

Coyle has been key<\/a> for the Blue Jackets in their recent win streak, with 12 points in his last six games. Coyle has 15 goals, 27 assists, & 42 points in 56 games for Columbus this season.<\/p>\n

Elliotte Friedman noted days prior that the Blue Jackets win streak may put a damper on any trade potential, but that Coyle could net a major haul.<\/p>\n

Marchment played in just four games for Toronto as a rookie, moving on to three other teams before being dealt to Columbus<\/a> from the Seattle Kraken in December.<\/p>\n

Expected to be flipped by the Blue Jackets, their recent stretch has changed things. Marchment has nine goals and 13 points in 14 games for Columbus since joining.<\/p>\n

All three presented clear fits for Toronto, Coyle the offensive top-six talent, Jenner as a reliable dual forward for the bottom-six, and Marchment as a middle-six forward with size.<\/p>\n

All three fit needs for Leafs GM Brad Treliving, leaving Toronto with even less trade options, and what may be part of what leads the Leafs to embrace being sellers.<\/p>\n

Likely out of the running are three key pieces that could have been fits for the Toronto Maple Leafs to upgrade at forward.<\/p>\n
