Jeremy Swayman <\/a>said he lost sight of the puck. Mike Sullivan said he never considered pulling him and the Team USA players said the ugly looking goal didn\u2019t affect them.<\/p>\n

Team USA won for the second time in as many games so far in the Olympics, holding off Denmark, 6-3, on Saturday in Milan.<\/p>\n

Since the victor wasn\u2019t a surprise and the score wasn\u2019t that close, the Danes\u2019 unlikely second goal against the Bruins<\/a>\u2019 goalie became the game\u2019s most talked about moment.<\/p>\n

With the score tied 1-1, Nicholas Jensen crossed the red line and slung a wrist shot toward the net. Swayman was slow to react <\/a>and the puck sailed over his shoulder into the net.<\/p>\n

After the play and again after the game, there was considerable speculation that the boards, which were painted a dark blue, almost black color just near center ice had masked the shot.<\/p>\n

Swayman, who is colorblind, dismissed the black puck on black background excuse, for a more simple explanation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a flash screen, and it was just the perfect height right between the stands and board level, and I truly lost it,\u201d Swayman said. \u201cDefinitely one I want back, but at the same time, especially at this level, you\u2019ve got to stay even-keeled. It\u2019s one shot at a time, and no matter how they go in, you\u2019ve got to step up and stop the next one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack Eichel said the goal didn\u2019t linger with the American players.<\/p>\n

\u201cNine times out of 10 \u2014 or 99 times out of 100 \u2014 he\u2019s going to have that,\u201d Eichel said. <\/a>\u201cIt\u2019s a crazy play. I don\u2019t know, I lost the puck up in the lights a few times tonight as well. The setting is a little bit different. We don\u2019t fault him. He\u2019s part of our group. He made some huge saves for us at key times of the game. Funky bounce \u2014 you just move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

USA coach Mike Sullivan was asked if he\u2019d considered hooking Swayman after that goal or Denmark\u2019s third goal, a seemingly stoppable slap shot late in second period.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Connor Hellebuyck, who started Team USA\u2019s first game against Latvia and was the No. 1 goalie for Team USA in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off, is expected back in net on Sunday. eam USA finishes pool play against Germany at 3:10 p.m. EST. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jeremy Swayman said he lost sight of the puck.
