Over the past few years, our staff has done a good job and we have a number of good young players, whether they’re in our lineup now or close to getting in our lineup. And those players are going to get a chance to play. Based on the circumstances with this team, this is the year to do it. The fact of the matter is we’re in a rebuild.” Jim Rutherford said about the Vancouver Canucks’ plans to rebuild.

Former top-ten pick named as perfect candidate for Vancouver Canucks’ rebuild

During Friday’s edition of Sekeres and Price, National Hockey League insider Harman Dayal mentioned that Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti could be a potential target for the Vancouver Canucks leading up to the trade deadline.

Dayal says that Perfetti has proven that he can produce at the National Hockey League level, with a career-high of 50 points during the 2024-25 season, and that he would fit in age-wise with what the Vancouver Canucks are trying build.

“Cole Perfetti is at an interesting spot where he’s 24-years-old, he was a top-ten pick in 2020. He’s having an underwhelming, disappointing year with only 18 points in 42 games and I wonder if this is kind of the opportunity where it’s not as if the Jets are going to be willing to let him go for nothing because he’s still a valuable middle-six piece, but I think you could have an opportunity to maybe buy low on a player who, first of all the production dip, a situation where he’s been snake bitten, where he’s had some bad luck. He’s shooting less than 5% at five-on-five. The two way play-driving numbers are strong and even when I’ve just watched the Jets play, it just feels like a year where he’s played and been more dangerous and the production would indicate he’s a slick, creative playmaking winger.” Dayal said.

As Dayal mentions, the Winnipeg Jets aren’t just going to give him up, it’s going to take an offer that’ll “wow” General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and with the club hoping to keep their current core together for a playoff push, perhaps they might be interested in some more forward help, someone like Conor Garland or even Jake DeBrusk.

Previously on Vancouver Hockey Daily

POLL

1 HOUR AGO|36 ANSWERS

Former top-ten pick named as perfect candidate to help Vancouver Canucks’ rebuild

Do you think Cole Perfetti is the right player for the Vancouver Canucks’ rebuild?

                 …

[5128
894,2000,5,4,893,27,5692,31456,8441,5313,18
0":"post-459187","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-vancouver-canucks","8":"tag-canucks","9":"tag-cole-perfetti","10":"tag-hockey","11":"tag-nhl","12":"tag-vancouver","13":"tag-vancouver-canucks","14":"tag-vancouver-canucks-news","15":"tag-vancouver-canucks-rebuild","16":"tag-vancouver-canucks-trade-rumors","17":"tag-vancouvercanucks","18":"tag-winnipeg-jets
["GET
