He posted up near his hometown in the Annapolis Valley, saw friends and family, skated with the men\u2019s hockey team at Acadia University and watched hockey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve been watching the whole (men\u2019s hockey) tournament,\u201d Batherson said Tuesday after reuniting with teammates back in Ottawa for the first practice in weeks. \u201cI was just kind of hanging out at my lake house and watching the Olympics all day, and then going for a skate at night. That was pretty much my routine. It was awesome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe timing\u2019s nice for the games. I think everyone\u2019s probably getting up, like myself, and having a few coffees, kicking the feet up and watching some hockey. It\u2019s been awesome. All of the boys have been playing great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Top of that \u201call of the boys\u201d list is <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.news.yahoo.com\/senators-olympic-tracker-stutzles-offensive-192150425.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Tim Stutzle, by a considerable margin;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Stutzle, by a considerable margin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 24-year-old centre has six points (four goals, two assists) in four games and is <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.news.yahoo.com\/senators-olympic-tracker-stutzle-ties-000651917.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:tied for the tournament lead in goals;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tied for the tournament lead in goals<\/a> with Canada\u2019s Macklin Celebrini and Denmark\u2019s Nick Olesen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On a German team that has few NHL players, Stutzle is being asked to carry a heavy load.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Among forwards in the tournament, only teammate Leon Draisaitl has played more minutes. Stutzle averages 21:47 of ice time per game. During Germany\u2019s 5-1 win over France in the qualification playoffs on Tuesday, Stutzle\u2019s average shift length was 1:09.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHe\u2019s playing a lot,\u201d Batherson said. \u201cI talked to him yesterday and he said he was feeling pretty tired. I think he played like 27 minutes or something the other day. But he\u2019s flying out there. He left here on a good run and then pretty much went on a goal-scoring streak there until today. He\u2019s been playing great. It\u2019s cool. I love watching all the guys, really. But Timmy just seems like he\u2019s carried what he was doing here into there. The best one came late in the first period: He fought off a check in the left corner of the offensive zone and zipped a backhand pass into the slot for JJ Peterka, who scored on a deke in tight to make it 3-0.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cTo me, it\u2019s not (surprising). I know how good he is,\u201d Sens defenceman Thomas Chabot said. \u201cI knew he was going to go out there and play lots of minutes, take charge and take control of that team. I know he was very excited about it and looking forward to it. And he\u2019s not disappointing. I mean, the guy is unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Stutzle and Team Germany will play Slovakia in the quarter-finals on Wednesday (6:10 a.m.; CBC, SN, RDS), a day that will feature each of the four remaining Ottawa Senators at the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Nikolas Matinpalo, <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.news.yahoo.com\/senators-olympic-tracker-stutzle-leads-172052826.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:who scored in his Olympic debut;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">who scored in his Olympic debut<\/a> on Friday, could dress for Finland\u2019s quarter-final against Switzerland (12:10 p.m.; CBC, SN).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Brady Tkachuk and Jake Sanderson will suit up for the red, white and blue when the United States takes on Sweden (3:10 p.m.; CBC, SN, TSN).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s awesome,\u201d Chabot said. \u201cIt\u2019s so fun to watch, and they\u2019re all doing so well, too. It\u2019s fun. I always watch a lot of hockey, and having the chance to see a few of the boys make a dream come true, it\u2019s awesome to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Centre Shane Pinto had an outside chance to make the U.S. roster until a lower-body injury sidelined him in early December. Wearing the remnants of a sunburn on his faces and ears, he spoke proudly of his teammates who were chosen to represent their nations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe\u2019re so happy for them,\u201d Pinto said. \u201cWe know what they do to prepare for that, the hard work they\u2019ve put in these last few years. To see it come to fruition for them, I\u2019m just so happy for them. Some guys are not finished. It\u2019s going to be fun to watch these next few games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tkachuk, Sanderson and their American teammates seem to be on a collision course with Team Canada for the gold-medal game. Each squad is a heavy favourite in its respective quarter-final \u2014 Canada plays Czechia at 10:40 a.m. (CBC, SN) \u2014 and it\u2019ll likely be a similar story for the semis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Batherson has watched every Team Canada game, keeping up with his summer training crew, fellow bluenosers Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon and Brad Marchand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt says I\u2019m born in the States,\u201d Batherson says, \u201cbut I grew up in Germany for eight years and I\u2019ve been in Canada ever since I was eight, so I\u2019m a Canadian at heart. Obviously, I\u2019ve got a lot of close buddies on that team, and supporting those guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So, if all goes as expected, and it\u2019s two particular neighbouring nations in the final, will it be awkward for the Canadian Senators to potentially cheer against their teammates?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI don\u2019t make too big of a deal about it, to be honest,\u201d Chabot said. \u201cIt\u2019s a dream come true for them. It\u2019s such an unbelievable achievement in their career.
