DALLAS \u2014 Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the NBA season as he recovers from ACL reconstruction surgery.<\/p>\n

The team announced the news on Wednesday morning, saying that Irving will remain \u201cactively engaged with the team through the remainder of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Irving tore the ACL in his left knee during a game in March 2025 and had surgery to repair the torn ligament<\/a> that same month. He hasn\u2019t played this season. The team says Irving has made \u201csteady progress\u201d in his rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision wasn\u2019t easy, but it\u2019s the right one,\u201d Irving said in a statement. \u201cI am grateful for the Mavericks organization, my teammates and our fans for their continued support throughout the process. I am looking forward to coming back stronger next season.\u201d<\/p>\n

This news comes after the Mavericks traded the oft-injured All-Star Anthony Davis<\/a> to the Washington Wizards along with Jaden Hardy, D\u2019Angelo Russell and Dante Exum in an eight-player trade.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks are currently 19-35 this season and are on a nine-game losing streak.
