Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Chris Tanev skated for a third straight day Thursday, but it remains unclear whether he will get back in the team\u2019s lineup this season. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s still early to talk about, whether he\u2019s joining us here,\u201d head coach Craig Berube said. \u201cBut he seems pretty good. And so again, it\u2019s still going to probably be a day or two until we figure out exactly if he\u2019s going to join us with the team. Maybe, you know, we\u2019ll see if we\u2019ll talk to him and see if we can get there by the weekend, but I\u2019m not sure yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tanev has been out since suffering a groin injury on Dec. 28 and was weighing undergoing surgery in January to address the issue. He has been limited to just 11 games this season due to various injuries, posting two assists. <\/p>\n
A native of Toronto, Tanev is in his 16th NHL season and second with the Leafs, having signed a six-year, $27.5 million deal with the team in the summer of 2024. He carries a cap hit of $4.5 million. <\/p>\n
