A Western Conference contender has emerged as a potential landing spot for Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland, who has been receiving some trade interest.<\/p>\n

“There’s been some discussion about Conor Garland, but I’ve heard the preference is to keep him. Another incredibly competitive guy who works. It comes down to someone making an offer they can’t say no to.” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said back in November.<\/p>\n

Should the Vancouver Canucks officially make Conor Garland available on the trade market, Patrik Allvin is going to have a number of teams lining up to try to acquire the 29-year-old winger, one of which appears to be a Western Conference contender.<\/p>\n

“In Garland, they\u2019d get someone who already has established chemistry with Hughes, and who is a personal friend \u2013 something that could come in handy as they attempt to extend Hughes starting this summer. That\u2019s something the Canucks once hoped Garland could play a role in, and maybe he still can, just not in Vancouver.” Roget said about Garland’s potential fit in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

The big thing for the Canucks, if they do want to move Conor Garland, is it’ll need to be done prior to July 1st, which is when his new contract kicks in that also comes with a full no-movement clause for the first three seasons.<\/p>\n

There will be interest in Garland over the next couple of weeks, there’s no question about that, but any trade will need to include a big asset coming back to Vancouver, someone that will make an impact on this club in the years to come, perhaps a prospect like Lirim Amidovski (North Bay – OHL) or even Charlie Stramel (Michigan State University – NCAA), although the latter might be tough to pry out of the hands of Bill Guerin.<\/p>\n
