Speaking on CHEK TV\u2019s Donnie & Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal reported there is some interest in the 34-year-old winger, mentioning the Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Los Angeles Kings as possible fits. However, Drance later characterized the trade market for Kane as \u201cvirtually non-existent,\u201d even with salary retention on his $5.15 million cap hit.<\/p>\n Kane has nine goals and 25 points this season, and while his underlying numbers suggest he can still drive offense, contenders may be hesitant to pay for inconsistent production. There\u2019s also speculation that, if no trade materializes, more creative solutions \u2014 including contract termination \u2014 could be explored, though nothing concrete has been reported.<\/p>\n Pettersson, meanwhile, is still being discussed in trade chatter. Over the Olympic break there was talk that Los Angeles could view him as a potential replacement for injured winger Kevin Fiala<\/a>. Kevin Baxter of the Los Angeles Times and Ben Kuzma of The Province both noted increased Kings interest.<\/p>\n However, Pettersson\u2019s limited usage in Sweden\u2019s 2\u20131 overtime loss to the United States, just nine minutes, with no shifts after the second period, likely posed questions for NHL teams that might have been looking at him. If he\u2019s dealing with an injury of some kind, teams will be hesitant. But, if he\u2019s healthy and he just wasn\u2019t being played, how will he step up in the playoffs if he doesn\u2019t step up on the biggest international stage there is?<\/p>\n If Vancouver were to seriously entertain moving him, Pettersson would need to waive his no-move clause.<\/p>\n Beyond the headline names, pending unrestricted free agents Teddy Blueger<\/a> and David K\u00e4mpf<\/a> could represent the Canucks\u2019 most realistic trade chips.
