San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini put himself into world superstardom with his performance for Team Canada at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Celebrini led the tournament in goals, five, and finished second in Canada in points with 10. Despite his best efforts, the Sharks winger walks away with a silver medal. Celebrini had six shots on goal and a few missed shots that he\u2019ll want back. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really disappointing, especially with the group we had. The whole time we believed in ourselves. We had lots of chances, I had lots of chances, I missed. You get put in those situations, you have to capitalize on your opportunities, and I didn\u2019t,\u201d Celebrini said postgame<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At 19 years old, Celebrini became the youngest player in Team Canada\u2019s Olympic history when NHLers played for his country. The Sharks centerman led the tournament off with a goal, which broke the record for the youngest player to score for Canada at the Olympics, with NHLers.<\/p>\n

Celebrini was robbed on a breakaway by Team USA\u2019s MVP of the Gold Medal<\/a> game, Connor Hellebuyck. Celebrini is selfless and will always want his teammates to succeed more than him. That was even more evident in his postgame comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went through a lot. We\u2019re all going to remember this time, but unfortunately, it\u2019s going to be more motivational than celebration,\u201d Celebrini said. <\/p>\n

Canadian captain, an idol of the San Jose Sharks star, Sidney Crosby<\/a>, didn\u2019t play the final two games due to injury. Celebrini was asked about the impact he made.<\/p>\n

\u201cSid means everything to this country and to us. He\u2019s an inspiring leader, a huge role model for all of us. We really wanted to win it for him and we wanted him to be proud of us, but unfortunately,\u201d Celebrini said, according to a Czech news outlet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Celebrini will need time to reflect on his experience at the 2026 Winter Olympics fully, the youngster said the loss in the final game will help him learn for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow tough a feeling this is, coming all this way, knowing what we had and just not getting it done. Just a lot of learning.\u201d<\/p>\n

There isn\u2019t a timeline for when Celebrini will rejoin the Sharks.
