Connor McDavid didn’t get the gold medal that he and his Canadian teammates wanted.<\/p>\n

But he leaves Milan as a silver medalist and the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 Winter Olympics men’s hockey tournament. The USA’s Connor Hellebuyck (best goalkeeper) and Quinn Hughes (best defender) also received individual awards.<\/p>\n

McDavid finished with 13 points (two goals, 11 assists), setting a record for an NHL player at the Olympics. He passed the 11 points shared by Finland’s Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu in 2006.<\/p>\n

The three-time Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP was expected to have a big tournament after scoring the overtime goal in the 4 Nations Face-Off final. But the USA made quick work in the Olympic gold medal game overtime as Jack Hughes scored the golden goal<\/a> at 1:41 for a 2-1 victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McDavid had been named playoff MVP in the NHL in 2024 while falling short to the Florida Panthers in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.<\/p>\n
