ICE HOCKEY fans have spoken after the epic Team USA vs Canada gold medal clash at the Winter Olympic games. <\/p>\n

Team USA won gold in dramatic fashion<\/a> with Jack Hughes<\/a> scoring the overtime winner to break Canadian hearts. <\/p>\n

NHL fans now want a repeat of this game every year instead of the All-Star gameCredit: AP<\/p>\n

It marks Team USA\u2019s<\/a> first men\u2019s Winter Olympics<\/a> gold medal in the sport since the Miracle on Ice in 1980. <\/p>\n

The game, which NBC showed without adverts during play<\/a> to the joy of many fans, was of the highest quality. <\/p>\n

So much so, NHL<\/a> fans now want major changes to the All-Star game<\/a> that usually takes place annually. <\/p>\n

This year, the All-Star game was skipped so that NHL players could compete in the Olympics<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Now ice hockey<\/a> fans are calling for that to take place more often with a superior replacement in mind. <\/p>\n

A journalist wrote on X, \u201cGary Bettman needs to immediately call a Press Conference and announce the abolition of the All Star Game. <\/p>\n

\u201cStarting next year, it\u2019s got to be USA vs Canada every February.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another reporter agreed, adding, \u201cPretty clear to me: NHL needs to ditch All-Star games and do Four Nations at least 2 of every 3 years in between these Olympic matchups. Hockey deserves it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A fan responded to that, \u201c2027\u2013regular all star game. 2028\u20134 nations. 2029\u2013regular all star game. 2030\u2013Olympics. Repeat ad infinitum.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was quite a popular suggestion among North American fans but some Europeans wanted a word. <\/p>\n

One fan commented, \u201cThey need alternate World Cup and Olympics each 2 years. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn the other years they can do all star or a USA vs Canada and Finland vs Sweden vs Norway rivalry series.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the 2026 Winter Olympics elimination stages showed anything, the more hockey nations involved, the better. <\/p>\n

The group stages weren\u2019t particularly riveting but when it came to knockout time, nations like Czechia<\/a>, Slovakia and so on really impressed.<\/p>\n
