In the last six games prior to the break, he put up 13 points. It’s not an entire fluke. He has 17 points in his last 17 games and should continue to see time on the Blue Jackets’ first power play unit. Rostered in only 47% of Fantrax leagues, he could hold longer-term value.

The Blue Jackets only play two games this week, so if you need a true short-term option, consider that.

Mikael Granlund, Anaheim Ducks

Schedules don’t get better than this. The Ducks play three games at home, all on off nights: Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday (fewer games = fewer roster conflicts). The Ducks also don’t play back-to-back games this week.

If you need extra games, Granlund fits the bill. He was cooking before the break with six points in his last five games, including three on special teams (all three came on January 26th, against the Edmonton Oilers).

He’s owned in 49% of Fantrax pools. In shallower leagues, there’s a good chance he’s available.

Jack Quinn, Buffalo Sabres

While all three of the Sabres’ games are on the road this week, two of them are on off nights. In a short week, an extra game or two can be significant.

Quinn had posted eight points in the last seven games before the break. He’s also seeing second-line minutes, lined up with Jason Zucker and Ryan McLeod.

His role on the first power-play unit does feel temporary, though. It’s hard to see Alex Tuch remaining on the second unit long-term. Owned in only 43% of pools, again, he should be available in shallower leagues.

Defensemen Recommendations
Josh Manson, Colorado Avalanche

Manson won’t provide power play points, but he will contribute to every other category. Owned in 53% of Fantrax leagues, his season has flown under the radar a bit.

In multi-cat pools, he’s been a top 30 defender. The 64 penalty minutes and 129 hits have boosted his value there.

With Cale Makar and Devon Toews both logging huge minutes for Team Canada at the Olympics, don’t be surprised if Manson gets a boost in ice time in the interim.

Uvis Balinskis, Florida Panthers

Two of the Panthers’ games are at home, and two of their three games are on off nights. Owned in just 15% of Fantrax pools, Balinskis is widely unowned.

It is exceptionally rare to find a defenceman averaging 3:11 time on ice, over their past 16 games on the power play, this available. In those 16 games, he’s provided 7 points, 6 on the power-play. As long as Seth Jones remains out, Balinskis will get prime minutes.

Goalie Recommendations
Alex Lyon, Buffalo Sabres

He’s owned in 57% of Fantrax pools, which feels low considering the year he’s having. He should get two of the Sabres’ three games this week. Before the break, he won three of his last five games, with one shutout. He also rocked at a .934 save percentage over those games.

Fantrax is one of the fastest-growing fantasy sites in the fantasy sports industry, and we’re not stopping anytime soon.
