Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey will miss a \u201cgood chunk of time\u201d with the upper-body injury he suffered at the 2026 Winter Olympics, as per Darren Dreger.<\/a><\/p>\n

Morrissey sustained the undisclosed injury in Canada\u2019s opening preliminary game versus Czechia on Feb. 12 that kept him out of the rest of the tournament. It was just more bad luck for the blue liner on the international stage as he was also not able to play in the 4 Nations Face-Off final last year due to coming down with a nasty flu virus.<\/p>\n

Morrissey has 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points in 56 games this season, and his absence for an extended period represents yet another blow to the Jets\u2019 slim chances of making the playoffs: they are 11 points back of the second Western Conference wild-card spot and own a 22-26-8 record with 26 games to go.<\/p>\n

The Jets resume play out of the Olympic break on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they open a three-game road trip in Vancouver against the Canucks.<\/p>\n
