Jennings Trophy, three-time NHL First All-Star Team selection \u2014 and now gold medalist \u2014 Connor Hellebuyck.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>While I was 100 per cent all-in on Canada winning, there was that teeny tiny part of my heart and soul, being a fan of Connor Hellebuyck, that was elated for him.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/national.jpg\" alt=\"For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, he got his \u201cbig performance,\u201d and anyone doubting his ability \u201cunder pressure\u201d and \u201cwhen the chips are down\u201d can kindly walk off their dock, in their birthday suit, and jump, cannonball style, into a frozen lake.<\/p>\n<p>That, I\u2019m happy about.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Sports<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Like many, I was critical of his play in places like St. Louis in last year\u2019s playoffs, but I never doubted his ability to rise to the occasion, and would every single time, put this team\u2019s chances to win in his reliable mitts.<\/p>\n<p>However, after more time to mull over the 3-on-3 overtime loss, I grew more disappointed in the play of this Jets team this season.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it wouldn\u2019t be fair not to acknowledge the blueline that Hellebuyck played behind in Milan, including Brock Faber, Zach Werenski, Quinn Hughes and Jaccob Slavin, among other elite athletes. But it\u2019s tough not to consider how the members of Winnipeg\u2019s hockey club have played in front of Hellebuyck.
