{"id":469436,"date":"2026-02-24T10:51:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T10:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/469436\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T10:51:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T10:51:16","slug":"mikko-rantanen-missing-time-for-stars-after-olympic-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/469436\/","title":{"rendered":"Mikko Rantanen missing time for Stars after Olympic injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FRISCO, Texas (AP) \u2014 Mikko Rantanen is expected to miss some time for the Dallas Stars after returning from the Olympics, where he didn&#8217;t play in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/finland-slovakia-bronze-medal-score-bc4e717dce799899758bfffa4d0ef9ff\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Finland&#8217;s win over Slovakia<\/a>\u00a0for the bronze medal because of a lower body injury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn&#8217;t expect him, certainly for the first game, or maybe in the first two,\u201d coach Glen Gulutzan said after the Stars practiced Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Gulutzan said Rantanen, the Stars&#8217; leading scorer with 69 points (20 goals, 49 assists), was going to see a doctor.<\/p>\n<p>The Stars host Seattle on Wednesday night and are home again Saturday against Nashville. They will then have a day off Sunday before road games on consecutive nights.<\/p>\n<p>After getting hurt in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/finland-canada-olympics-crosby-493a2727c331f2c75b0068beb1746c47\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Finland&#8217;s 3-2 loss to Canada<\/a>\u00a0in the Olympic semifinals on Friday night, Rantanen didn&#8217;t play in the 6-1 win over Slovakia on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Rantanan was among six Stars players who brought home medals from the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Oettinger was the backup goalie for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/usa-canada-score-olympics-13495a7dd0dbda9d660479223d3689a8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United States team that won the gold medal<\/a>\u00a0with a 2-1 overtime win over Canada, which meant a silver for Stars defenseman Thomas Harley.
