TSN.ca keeps you up to date with all the latest news and rumours with the daily Countdown to TradeCentre blog.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Follow all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/tradecentre\/trade-tracker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/tradecentre\/trade-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\">the latest trades here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/free-agency\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/free-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\">the most up to date signings here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rebuild Continues in Vancouver<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> sit last in NHL as play gets set to resume and have entered a rebuild after trading star blueliner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/quinn-hughes\/8480800\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/quinn-hughes\/8480800\" target=\"_blank\">Quinn Hughes<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/minnesota-wild\/30\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> earlier this season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7064175\/2026\/02\/23\/vancouver-canucks-trade-deadline-2026-olympics\/?source=emp_shared_article\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7064175\/2026\/02\/23\/vancouver-canucks-trade-deadline-2026-olympics\/?source=emp_shared_article\">Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports<\/a>, though, that the Canucks \u201care a motivated seller&#8230; but not necessarily a pure seller.\u201dHe writes that the team is not actively looking to move veteranswith term andwill instead focus on acquiring draft capital for their pending unrestricted free agents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Drance also adds that the Canucks are willing to be buyers if the team can bring on a player in need of a change of scenery to enhance their trade value over the next year, especially if the team receives additional assets for taking that player on. He notes the Canucks would like add centre depth and young players at the deadline, if possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Atop the list of pending UFAs inVancouver\u00a0is veteran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/evander-kane\/8475169\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/evander-kane\/8475169\" target=\"_blank\">Evander Kane<\/a>, who was acquired from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" target=\"_blank\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> this past summer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 34-year-old winger nine goals and 25 points in 56 games with the Canucks this season, carrying a cap hit of $5.125 million on his expiring deal. The Vancouver native brings a playoff pedigree having reached the Stanley Cup Final with the Oilers in each of the past two seasons, but Drance notes the market for him has not been \u201cextremely robust.\u201d He adds the Canucks are willing to retain the maximum of 50 per cent of Kane\u2019s cap hit in order to facilitate a deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Centres <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/david-kampf\/8480144\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/david-kampf\/8480144\" target=\"_blank\">David Kampf<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/teddy-blueger\/8476927\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/teddy-blueger\/8476927\" target=\"_blank\">Teddy Blueger<\/a> are also playing on expiring deals in Vancouver and Drance believes the Canucks could fetch mid-round picks back for both players.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kampf, 31, joined the team earlier this season after terminating his deal with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/toronto-maple-leafs\/10\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/toronto-maple-leafs\/10\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>, signing a one-year, $1.1 million deal. He has two goals\u00a0and\u00a0six points in 34 games with the Canucks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Blueger, also 31, carries a cap hit of $1.8 million on his expiring deal. He has been limited to just 10 games with the Canucks this season due to injury, posting five goals and eight points. He appeared in all four of Latvia\u2019s games at Milano Cortina 2026, posting one assist. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The future of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" target=\"_blank\">Elias Pettersson<\/a> remains a subject of discussion in Vancouver, with TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger stating Tuesday there has been renewed interest in the centre over the past month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThere was interest renewed just prior to the February 4th Olympic break; trade discussions involving\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" target=\"_blank\">Elias Pettersson<\/a>\u00a0and I think it\u2019s fair to assume that those conversations drifted over the course of the Olympic break,\u201c Dreger explained on Early Trading. \u201dSo that brings us to here and now. It\u2019s important to note here that Pettersson does possess a no-move clause. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI know that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>\u00a0have spoken to his representative, JP Barry, but there hasn\u2019t been a formal offer made, a trade presentation on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/elias-pettersson\/8483678\" target=\"_blank\">Elias Pettersson<\/a>\u00a0that would be worthwhile enough for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>\u00a0to go to Barry to say \u2018All right, is Pettersson willing to waive?\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cBut it\u2019s a developing story, and it\u2019s one that we\u2019re going to have to continue to follow.\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 27-year-old Pettersson has 13 goals and 34 points in 49 games with the Canucks this season and posted two goals in five games with Team Sweden at the Olympics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Pettersson posted three straight 30-goal seasons before finishing with 15 goals and 45 points in 64 games last season, the first year of an eight-year, $92.8 million deal that carries a cap hit of $11.6 million. He has a full no-move clause that kicked in on July 1 of last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Canucks, who are 21 points back of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" target=\"_blank\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference, will resume their season on Wednesday against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" target=\"_blank\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>First trade arrives<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-islanders\/2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-islanders\/2\" target=\"_blank\">New York Islanders<\/a> acquired forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/matt-luff\/8479644\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/matt-luff\/8479644\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Luff<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" target=\"_blank\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> in exchange for forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/julien-gauthier\/8479328\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/julien-gauthier\/8479328\" target=\"_blank\">Julien Gauthier<\/a> on Tuesday in the first trade since the Olympic freeze was lifted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Luff, 28, has one goal in five NHL games so far this season. He also has 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 42 AHL contests with the Springfield Thunderbirds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He\u2019s played parts of six NHL seasons with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/los-angeles-kings\/26\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/los-angeles-kings\/26\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Kings<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/detroit-red-wings\/17\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/detroit-red-wings\/17\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/nashville-predators\/18\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/nashville-predators\/18\" target=\"_blank\">Nashville Predators<\/a> in addition to the Blues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Gauthier, a former first-round pick of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/carolina-hurricanes\/12\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/carolina-hurricanes\/12\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> in 2016, has not yet appeared in an NHL game in 2025-26, playing one game for the Isles last season. He has five goals and seven points in 14 AHL games this year for the Bridgeport Islanders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 28-year-old has played parts of eight NHL seasons with the Hurricanes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-rangers\/3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-rangers\/3\" target=\"_blank\">New York Rangers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/ottawa-senators\/9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/ottawa-senators\/9\" target=\"_blank\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> in addition to the Islanders.<\/p>\n<p>Ristolainen on the block again?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7058397\/2026\/02\/20\/flyers-michkov-tocchet-trade-deadline\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7058397\/2026\/02\/20\/flyers-michkov-tocchet-trade-deadline\/\">Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/philadelphia-flyers\/4\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> are once again willing to listen on trade offers for defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/rasmus-ristolainen\/8477499\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/rasmus-ristolainen\/8477499\" target=\"_blank\">Rasmus Ristolainen<\/a> ahead of the trade deadline this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kurz notes the Flyers are not in a rush to the6-foot-4blueliner, who remains signed through next season at a cap hit of $5.1 million. Ristolainen has one goal and six points in 19 games this season after missing time earlier due to the ankle injury that ended his 2024-25 campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kurz points to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/dallas-stars\/25\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/dallas-stars\/25\" target=\"_blank\">Dallas Stars<\/a> as a potential suitor for Ristolainen after missing out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/rasmus-andersson\/8478397\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/rasmus-andersson\/8478397\" target=\"_blank\">Rasmus Andersson<\/a>, who was dealt to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vegas-golden-knights\/54\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vegas-golden-knights\/54\" target=\"_blank\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> in January. He notes the Stars may struggle to meet the Flyers asking price as the team is already without their first-round picks in 2026 and 2028, but do have their first two picks in 2027. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ristolainen posted three assists in six games with Finland at Milano Cortina 2026, winning a bronze medal. He has averaged 19:54 of ice time with the Flyers this season. <\/p>\n<p>Binnington\u2019s stock back up<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jordan-binnington\/8476412\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jordan-binnington\/8476412\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan Binnington<\/a>\u2019s trade stock appears to be back up again after another strong performance for Team Canada at the Winter Olympics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 32-year-old went 4-1 at the tournament, posting a .917 save percentage and a 1.78 goals-against average. He turned aside 26 of the 28 shots he faced in the gold-medal game, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jack-hughes-359977\/8481559\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jack-hughes-359977\/8481559\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Hughes<\/a> beating him in overtime to secure the victory for Team USA. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Binnington has struggled with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/st-louis-blues\/19\" target=\"_blank\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> this season, going 8-17-6 with an .864 save percentage and 3.65 goals-against average.
