Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman said the U.S. Olympic men\u2019s hockey team shouldn\u2019t have laughed along with President Donald Trump after he made a joke about having to invite the women\u2019s team<\/a> to Tuesday\u2019s State of the Union address.<\/p>\n

Both teams won gold over Canada at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

While back in the Bruins\u2019 locker room Wednesday, Swayman was asked by a reporter about the \u201cnegative reaction\u201d to the viral call between the men\u2019s team and Trump \u2014 where Trump said he\u2019d have to invite the women\u2019s team to his State of the Union address or else \u201cI\u2019d probably be impeached\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should\u2019ve reacted differently,\u201d Swayman said of Trump\u2019s comment about the women\u2019s team. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that we are so excited for the women\u2019s team. We have so much respect for the women\u2019s team. To share that gold medal with them is something we\u2019re forever grateful for.\u201d <\/p>\n

The U.S. men\u2019s team attended Trump\u2019s SOTU address at the U.S. Captiol Tuesday, and they visited the White House. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an incredible honor,\u201d Swayman said of the team\u2019s visit to Washington D.C. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe all were there to represent our country [and] celebrate a gold medal for the United States and that was something that we really embodied and we\u2019re really grateful to be a part of.\u201d <\/p>\n

During Tuesday\u2019s SOTU, Trump said the women\u2019s hockey team will \u201csoon\u201d visit the White House<\/a>, despite the team\u00a0declining his invitation for that night<\/a>\u00a0due to scheduling conflicts following their gold medal win over Canada at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unknown if the women\u2019s hockey team accepted an invitation to the\u00a0White House after declining Trump\u2019s original invite.<\/p>\n
