Would Tyler Myers<\/a> consider playing for the Detroit<\/a> Red Wings? Apparently, that\u2019s the exact scenario he is pondering.<\/p>\n

The Vancouver Canucks held the veteran defenseman out of the lineup on Wednesday night as they faced the Winnipeg Jets for what was described as trade considerations. Vancouver has an offer on the table for Myers.<\/p>\n

His contract includes a full no-movement clause. Myers is being given time to determine whether he\u2019s willing to accept the move.<\/p>\n

For the Canucks to have presented a trade to Tyler Myers they must have been blown away by the offer. <\/p>\n

Word is spreading in NHL circles that the team making the offer for Myers is the Red Wings.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyler Myers continues to consider a trade option,\u201d TSN NHL insider Darren Dreger reported. \u201cIt\u2019s believed Detroit is the target.\u201d<\/p>\n

Myers would be a good fit for the Red Wings<\/p>\n

Certainly, the scenario would make sense. Word is that Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman doesn\u2019t want to pay a steep price for a rental. It was ultimately what took the Wings out of the Quinn Hughes sweepstakes earlier this season.<\/p>\n

Myers is 36 years old. He\u2019s a right-shot defenseman. Nicknamed the Chaos Giraffe, Myers is also a towering physical specimen at 6-foot-8 and 228 pounds.<\/p>\n

Tyler Myers continues to consider a trade option. It\u2019s believed Detroit is the target. Other teams have expressed interest, including Dallas. Likely why Myers is taking his time in allowing the process to develop.<\/p>\n

Among Vancouver defenseman, Myers is second in blocked shots (90) and takeaways (20), and third in hits (65). He\u2019s third in average time on ice per game (20:13).<\/p>\n

Slotting him in alongside Ben Chiarot in Detroit\u2019s second pairing would allow the club to drop rookie Axel Sandin-Pellikka down to the third pairing.<\/p>\n

After this season, he has one more year remaining on his contract at $3 million, so Myers wouldn\u2019t be an expensive or long-term addition. They wouldn\u2019t be taking on the massive term left on the contract of New Jersey\u2019s Dougie Hamilton (two more years at $9 million per year) or be paying the heavy stipend St. Louis is reportedly seeking for Justin Faulk<\/a> (a first-round pick, a conditional second-round pick, and a top prospect).<\/p>\n
