As an organization, we take a lot of pride in giving him the opportunity to grow and excel as a player. Given where things currently stand and the direction of our rebuild, we felt it was necessary to make a move like this as we continue to build our pipeline. In addition to adding two draft picks, Cole is a right-shot defenceman who will report to Abbotsford.” Allvin said after trading Kiefer Sherwood.

The return was less than stellar as many were expecting the Canucks to net a first round pick for Sherwood, but a move was necessary as he was likely going to leave town as a free agent on Canada Day and for the San Jose Sharks, who are still pondering if they’ll give him an extension, it looks like they’re also considering another option – flipping him.

Kiefer Sherwood’s stint with the San Jose Sharks could be short as trade deadline looms

Due to an injury, combined with the National Hockey League’s break, Kiefer Sherwood has been limited to just two games with the San Jose Sharks, going point-less with four penalty minutes, 12 hits and is a minus-one.

“A league source told me this week that the Sharks are open to the possibility of flipping Sherwood if they can’t get him signed. Given his low cap hit ($1.5 million), there should be a robust market for him as a rental player.” LeBrun said.

He added, “So I do think an extension and Sherwood staying put in San Jose is the best-case scenario for everyone involved. And I think Sherwood wants to say.”

If the San Jose Sharks are going to trade Kiefer Sherwood, they’re going to look to get more than the two second round picks they gave to Vancouver last month and with Patrik Allvin having a difficult time trying to land a first rounder before shipping him to Northern California, it’s safe to say GM Mike Grier will as well, despite how much interest there will be in the Columbus, Ohio native.

Previously on Vancouver Hockey Daily

POLL

03 MINUTES AGO|1 ANSWERS

New report reveals former Vancouver Canuck Kiefer Sherwood may be on the move again

Do you think the San Jose Sharks will trade Kiefer Sherwood before the deadline?

                 …

[5128
894,5,6386,46446,4,168,893,27,5692,8441,5313
post-476284","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-vancouver-canucks","tag-canucks","tag-hockey","tag-kiefer-sherwood","tag-kiefer-sherwood-trade","tag-nhl","tag-san-jose-sharks","tag-vancouver","tag-vancouver-canucks","tag-vancouver-canucks-news","tag-vancouver-canucks-trade-rumors","tag-vancouvercanucks
["GET
