Yeah, I don’t know if the Boston Bruins need to go, like, go big at the deadline.<\/p>\n
Um- Yeah you know, this is a team that, you know, making the playoffs I think is the, you know, is success.<\/p>\n
Mm-hmm.<\/p>\n
And, you know, it, it would be great if they got in there without having to make a single move, and I think that’s probably the ideal situation is, you know, they sneak in as the wildcard seed and then they just say, “Okay, let’s see what we can do here, and can we be sort of that team that upsets the, maybe the Tampa Bay Lightning if that’s the match up or the Carolina Hurricanes if they face- Right the top seed in the, the Metro.<\/p>\n
But, you know, for me, I, I don’t think they’re one piece away from being a contender.<\/p>\n
Like, I could be wrong.<\/p>\n
Like, you know- Yeah when you look at them on the surface, they’ve got kind of everything you need to be a Stanley Cup threat, which is a starting goaltender that you trust, a, you know, a rock solid guy on the defense in Charlie McAvoy, and then you’ve got the two goal scorers in Pastrnak and Giese.<\/p>\n
So, you know, may- maybe I’m wrong.<\/p>\n
Maybe this is a team that, you know, should say, you know, “W- we’ve got Pasta in his prime.<\/p>\n
How many more years is he gonna be, you know, this dominant?”<\/p>\n
Maybe they should go for it.<\/p>\n
But, you know, if I was the GM, I’d be more prudent and say, “You know, I’m just happy to be in the playoffs, and let’s just kind of sit on our hands and hope we get there.”<\/p>\n
Ryan, what about Seattle?<\/p>\n
What is their thought process out west?<\/p>\n
Seattle’s a tough one because, you know, like, you look at, like, goals for, goals against.<\/p>\n
They’re not super strong.<\/p>\n
Uh- Yeah you know, goaltending, I mean, you do have Joey Daccord.<\/p>\n
you know, Philip Grubauer’s made a bit of a comeback this year.<\/p>\n
I, I do worry about them.<\/p>\n
I think they could sort of fade, and it’s interesting where I think Nashville could be the team that overtakes them and, and- Ooh honestly, like, I thought the Preds were dead in the water early this season.<\/p>\n
Yeah.<\/p>\n
But now I look at them and I say, “Well, you had an Olympic break where your veterans like Ryan O’Reilly and Steven Stamkos were able to get some rest.”<\/p>\n
Right.<\/p>\n
And, you know, Jussi Olkinuora had a good tournament for Finland and, you know, they didn’t go I mean, they played in the th- they won the bronze.<\/p>\n
Uh- Right.<\/p>\n
Right so he had, like, a day off I guess you know, like, where, you know, before the gold medal game where he could’ve, you know, rested.<\/p>\n
it Seattle, they’re just like, they, they feel like a team for me where it’s like I don’t know what the ceiling is.<\/p>\n
Like, it feels like a low ceiling.<\/p>\n
Right.<\/p>\n
so it’ll be interesting to see if they make any moves at the deadline because I do feel like this is a franchise that has always been, like, veterans and, you know, with the exception of, like, Matty Beniers- Right in terms of prominent roles.<\/p>\n
So at what point do you give the kids a little more responsibility or find kids that can play with that responsibility?<\/p>\n
So I’d, I’d be a little more leery about Seattle.<\/p>\n
I just, I don’t see, I don’t see the product.<\/p>\n
