The Seattle Kraken<\/a> have inked defenceman Gustav Olofsson<\/a> to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775K, the team announced Monday.<\/p>\n

Olofsson, 31, was previously under contract with Seattle\u2019s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, where he recorded two goals and 14 assists across 29 games played this season.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-2, left-shot blueliner last appeared in an NHL game during the 2023-24 season, and has played in just four contests for Seattle since signing with the team in free agency in 2021.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re happy to have Gustav under contract with our team,” said Kraken general manager Jason Botterill<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s been a steady, veteran presence in Coachella and brings depth to our blueline.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after the announcement, Olofsson was placed on waivers for the purpose of being reassigned back to the AHL.<\/p>\n

A second-round pick of Minnesota in 2013, Olofsson has played in 63 career games at the NHL level, recording no goals and 11 assists in parts of six seasons spent with the Wild, Montreal Canadiens<\/a>, and Kraken.<\/p>\n

In 395 games in the AHL, Olofsson has totaled 20 goals and 111 assists to go along with 173 penalty minutes and a plus-47 rating.<\/p>\n

The Boras, Sweden native represented his country at the 2014 World Juniors, posting five points across seven games on his way to winning a gold medal.<\/p>\n

The Kraken enter play Monday in the midst of a crowded Western Conference wild-card race, currently holding a three-point lead over the San Jose Sharks<\/a>, Nashville Predators<\/a>, and Los Angeles Kings<\/a> for the eighth and final playoff spot.<\/p>\n
