Vancouver Canucks<\/a> forward Jake DeBrusk<\/a> appeared to make it clear Monday he is not interested in staying with the team through a rebuild.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old winger, who has 13 goals and 29 points in 59 games this season, remains signed through 2030-31 at a cap hit of $5.5 million. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think a rebuild is hard for every player, but at the same point it\u2019s a great opportunity for younger guys,\u201d DeBrusk said, per the Vancouver Province. \u201cThis game humbles everybody and it\u2019s been a little bit more than humbling this year. Obviously, that [rebuild] is not something I would be okay with or accepting.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy game doesn\u2019t fit that.\u201d<\/p>\n

TSN\u2019s Farhan Lalji reports the Canucks have not received any trade calls on DeBrusk, who the team is unwilling to retain salary on. The full no-move clause in DeBrusk\u2019s contract will shift to a 15-team no-trade list after next season.<\/p>\n

DeBrusk was one of many #Canucks<\/a> veteran forwards who was invisible last night, may not have asked for a trade, but sounds ready for a move:

The Canucks\u2019 course is clear with the team sitting last in the NHL and shifting their focus to a long-term renovation after trading star defenceman and captain Quinn Hughes<\/a> earlier this season.<\/p>\n

TSN Hockey Insiders Chris Johnston and Darren Dreger have speculated that defenceman Filip Hronek<\/a> may be the only untouchable on Vancouver\u2019s roster as the rebuild begins.<\/p>\n

DeBrusk was listed at No. 31 on the latest TSN Trade Bait board, one of five Canucks to make the list, including Brock Boeser<\/a> and Conor Garland<\/a>, who just inked new deals with the team on July 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve said it since I\u2019ve been here. I don\u2019t care how I do as long as we\u2019re winning and we haven\u2019t been winning,\u201d DeBrusk added. \u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot more about myself in some ways this year. Lots of ups and down and it\u2019s more a mental thing. I don\u2019t think anybody in this room thought we\u2019d be in this position.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut that\u2019s the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeBrusk posted a career-best 28 goals with 48 points in 82 games last season, his first with the Canucks. He has hit the 25-goal mark four times in eight NHL seasons entering this year.<\/p>\n

Selected 14th overall by the Boston Bruins<\/a> in 2015, DeBrusk has 179 goals and 343 points in 606 games with the Bruins and Canucks.<\/p>\n
