The nightmare continues in the Big Apple in 2025-26. The New York Rangers will be without their Olympic Gold Medal<\/a> winning captain for, at the very least, the next seven days. J.T. Miller<\/a> is being placed on injured reserve.<\/p>\n

The #NYR<\/a> are placing JT Miller on IR. It\u2019s a new injury, per source, not the same one that kept him out earlier this season.<\/p>\n

What We Know<\/p>\n

It has been a horrendous season for the New York Rangers. One that they, and their fans will, want to forget. The Rangers placed Miller on IR the morning of March 3rd. Furthermore, team officials told the media this is unrelated to the injury that put Miller on IR earlier this season. Outside of winning a Gold Medal, it\u2019s been tough sledding for Miller this season.<\/p>\n

According to Emily Kaplan of ESPN, it is a new injury from an incident in the 5-4 overtime loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a>. The Rangers have three games coming up in the stretch that Miller will be out for. Not that it matters for the team. They currently sit dead last in the Eastern Conference standings, with just 54 points. They will not make the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season.<\/p>\n

Miller\u2019s Season<\/p>\n

Miller started this season with a lower-body tweak<\/a> that took him out of parts of training camp. Then in mid-December went on IR and was activated in early January. He traveled to Milan, Italy with Team USA and won a Gold Medal. Miller then played in all three games since the Olympic break before this injury.<\/p>\n

Miller has 14 goals and 28 points for the Rangers in 38 games played. With the team out of a playoff spot, it will be interesting how quick he returns to the lineup. The Rangers won\u2019t be in a hurry to rush anything, and may consider shutting him down for the season. Clearly, Miller is struggling to stay healthy this season. Next, the Rangers will decide if it\u2019s better to bring him back to let him finish the season, or give him an extra few weeks to heal.<\/p>\n
